National Account Manager (Grocery / FMCG)

Buckingham | Hybrid Working | From £50,000 per annum | Permanent

MK Personnel Solutions is delighted to be recruiting an experienced National Account Manager to join a well-established, fast-growing FMCG food business based in Buckingham.

Our client is a highly reputable ambient food manufacturer supplying a wide portfolio, including herbs, spices, pulses, grains, nuts, canned goods, pickles, chutneys, and poppadom’s, to major UK supermarkets under both private-label and branded ranges.

With over 60 years of international trading experience and continued investment in growth and innovation, this is an exciting opportunity for a commercially driven Grocery National Account Manager to join their established sales team.

The Role – National Account Manager (NAM)

The National Account Manager will take full ownership of a portfolio of UK Grocery and Convenience accounts, managing relationships end-to-end from forecasting and promotional planning through to negotiation, cost control and NPD launches.

You will operate within a fast-paced UK retail environment, driving category growth and delivering both top-line and bottom-line performance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Full account management of key supermarket and grocery multiple accounts
  • Develop and execute customer strategies to deliver revenue and margin growth
  • Lead commercial negotiations, including pricing, promotions and cost management
  • Identify and drive growth opportunities across existing and new product ranges
  • Manage forecasting, promotional planning and customer P&L
  • Work cross-functionally with Supply Chain, Finance, Buying and Operations teams
  • Deliver performance reporting to CEO and senior leadership
  • Collaborate with Design and Marketing teams to execute shopper marketing plans
  • Lead and support NPD launches within key retail accounts
  • Monitor market trends, competitor activity and pricing strategies

Experience & Qualifications

  • Minimum 3+ years’ experience as a National Account Manager, Grocery Account Manager or FMCG Account Manager
  • Experience managing large UK retail multiples
  • Experience with Tesco, Morrisons, Asda or Costco is highly advantageous
  • Strong understanding of retail supply chain and store-level execution
  • Proven experience managing customer P&L and delivering commercial growth
  • Strong negotiation and relationship management skills at a senior retailer level
  • Highly organised with the ability to manage multiple accounts
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret sales data and market trends
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (particularly Excel) and commercial reporting tools
  • Willingness to travel to customer sites and attend the London office as required
