Logistics Coordinator / Freight & Shipping Coordinator

Milton Keynes | Full-Time | Monday–Friday | 08:15–17:15 | Permanent

MK Personnel Solutions is delighted to be recruiting for an experienced Logistics Coordinator to join a well-established and growing company based in Milton Keynes.

This is a pivotal role focused on managing sea freight, air freight, road transport, import/export documentation and customs compliance, ensuring the efficient and cost-effective movement of goods across domestic, European and global markets.

The Role – Logistics Coordinator

You will take full responsibility for the end-to-end movement of goods, from inbound receipt through to final distribution, ensuring compliance with international trade regulations and supporting operational performance.

This position requires strong experience in international shipping, freight forwarding, customs clearance and supply chain coordination.

Transport, Freight & Distribution

  • Coordinate domestic, European and international shipments via road, sea and air freight
  • Plan deliveries in line with production schedules and customer requirements
  • Liaise with freight forwarders, shipping lines, airlines and third-party logistics providers
  • Negotiate freight rates and optimise shipping routes to improve cost efficiency
  • Manage and resolve delivery delays, customs holds and shipping discrepancies
  • Maintain complete shipment records including PODs, POEs and commercial invoices
  • Support the transportation of dangerous goods, including lithium-ion batteries, in line with safety regulations and MSDS requirements

Customs & Compliance

  • Prepare and process import/export documentation
  • Ensure compliance with international trade regulations and Incoterms
  • Manage customs clearance procedures and declarations
  • Monitor regulatory changes affecting global shipping
  • Ensure proof of export and proof of delivery documentation is obtained and recorded

Reverse Logistics

  • Manage returned goods processes and classification
  • Ensure traceability and documentation accuracy

Cross-Functional Coordination

  • Work closely with Production, Sales, Purchasing, Finance and Warehousing teams
  • Align shipment schedules with sales orders and production plans
  • Verify freight costs against purchase orders and invoices
  • Provide transparency on logistics performance and costs

KPI & Performance Management

  • Monitor On-Time Delivery performance
  • Track freight cost efficiency (import and export)
  • Ensure documentation accuracy and compliance
  • Maintain full product traceability
  • Drive continuous improvement within the logistics function

Experience & Qualifications

  • Minimum of 5 GCSEs (including English and Mathematics) or equivalent
  • Proven experience in a Logistics Coordinator, Shipping Coordinator, Freight Coordinator or Supply Chain role
  • Strong knowledge of import/export procedures, customs documentation and global trade compliance
  • Experience shipping to regions such as the Far East and Middle East desirable
  • Good understanding of Incoterms and international freight regulations
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook) and ERP systems
